Day 5 South Hedland to Whim Creek 136 kms

Even the wild life were desperate for some liquid.

Great morning tea spot was found at the Peawah River rest area
The best white gum provided heaps of shade
The Cecile sisters riding off on their way to Whim Creek

 Whinges:
Norm whinged that you can never find a torch when you need one but Norm had trouble finding all sorts of things if Sheila wasn't around to tell him where he put it.
Richard slept on a slope last night & whinged that camping grounds lack flat surfaces.
Jacquei was dying for a COLD drink.
Gayle was whinging that McDonalds charged for water.
Woody was whinging that he wasn't in the whinge book.

We had easter eggs for breakfast, morning tea & lunch. I didn’t get on the bike today as I was having trouble coping with the way Collis & Gayle were packing up the car so I had to stay and teach them again the best way to do it (not fussy just particular & I like to be able to find things when I need to- not 3 days later)
Hot again today & still playing havoc with the riders. The main problem is keeping the water cold so they are not always drinking warm bore water, which is really quite disgusting.

The colours in the scenery today was just beautiful today.
The riders were finding all sorts of things along the road, even this new hammer Peter found.

Another rider pulled up short at lunchtime & hitched a ride in to the camp due to an upset tummy- she seemed to pick up after a cold shower & a sleep in her tent that one of the riders put up for her. It’s great to see how the riders all pull together and look after each other- it doesn’t take long for them to become a little family, always looking out for each other. Robert is having troubles with his punctures today.

Nothing at Whim Creek except a copper mine & the pub behind which we were staying. The pub has had a change of management since we booked & the new management say they knew nothing about us coming. The girl behind the bar was quite hostile but kindly allowed us to camp on their grass area behind the pub for a $10 a head increase in the original quoted price. We had also arranged a buffet meal for the riders but this wasn’t going to happen either, so we all made pot luck meals & still managed to have a good night.

Not the friendliest place we've stayed at.

The stars are just amazing & Richard has an app on his iPad that tells us what we are looking at. Always learning something.
